How can people look out at the world,
and think that everything is okay?
The answer is simple- They don’t look. They separate:
the energy from molecules
the truth from perception
their guts from their brains-
the ball from the chains
that shackle them.
And this mobility gives the illusion of freedom,
but they are still tied together-
marching single file,
to the couch across from the TV
to the bar with a glass of brandy
to the pew in the church where they plant seeds of hatred
and sew more seperation:
the Jews from Christians
the democrats from liberals
the blacks from the whites from the browns from the yellows from the sexually deviant beings-
and the rest sneer, peering into the stained glass windows
hating everyone for their conditioning.
But there is no one to blame
and there is no seperation-
we are one and the same:
operating under nature
which is molded by nuture
to help us navigate this culture
carved into the cliffs of humanity.
Hundreds of years of salty ocean tides
slam into our high shores;
and all we can do is will the moon
to defy gravity-
